Employer Site Visits

As part of this year’s conference, your 2019 CEIA Local Arrangements Committee has coordinated visits with several outstanding employers. Each site visit requires advanced sign-ups and are limited in space. Final details will be provided prior to the conference.

NOTE: Each of the site visits will require participants to travel via Taxi/Uber/Lyft; this will be coordinated prior to departing for the visit.

McDonald’s Chicago HQ

Join us prior to the “official” start of the conference for a site visit to McDonald’s Chicago HQ!

This site visit will feature a tour of McDonald’s office space, an informal presentation about their internships and full-time roles, and time for Q&A about McDonald’s positions, their recruitment process, and more. If time allows, we will also be able to visit McDonald’s Global Headquarters restaurant, which features a rotating global menu of food from McDonald’s locations around the world.

McDonald’s launched their Leadership Development Program in September and are excited to recruit from all majors for the Restaurant Business Consulting role. In this full-time position, individuals will spend most of their time traveling to restaurants to evaluate customer experience, food safety, and brand standard as well as consulting with franchisees on various areas of subject matter expertise. McDonald’s has 10 amazing office locations across the country.

Since opening the Museum in 1894, [the Field Museum’s] collection has grown to nearly 40 million artifacts and specimens. The breadth of our mission has expanded, too. We continue to research the objects in our collections, as well as document previously unknown species, conserve ecosystems in our backyard and across the globe, educate budding scientists, invite cross-cultural conversation, and more—all to ensure that our planet thrives for generations to come.

This visit will include an overview of the museum, a conversation regarding the types of jobs and internships at the Field, and their recruiting process. In addition, there will be a brief behind-the-scenes tour. You never know – you might get to meet Máximo, the titanosaur!

Shedd Aquarium

Every year Shedd Aquarium welcomes 2 million guests for unforgettable encounters with belugas and bluegills, stingrays and sturgeons, sea otters and a sea turtle—and so many more animals from aquatic environments around the world.

But Shedd is more than a destination. Our scientists are saving endangered species and their habitats. Our animal care experts rescue and rehabilitate wildlife in need, across the country and around the world. 

Join us prior to the “official” start of the conference for a site visit to the Shedd Aquarium! The conversation during the visit will focus on what makes Shedd unique, the different types of college level internships at the aquarium, and some projects their interns have worked on over the years.

Join us the morning after CEIA concludes for a site visit to Groupon’s Chicago HQ Office!

This site visit will feature a tour of Groupon’s office space, a former intern panel, and time for Q&A about Groupon’s internship program, recruitment process, and more.

Groupon is building the daily habit in local commerce, offering a vast mobile and online marketplace where people discover and save on amazing things to do, see, eat and buy. Groupon interns are fully integrated into these teams, creating and managing projects that they can expect will go into production. Groupon has interns focused on Software Development Engineering, Product Management, Data Science, and more.
