More about the San Diego Zoo
For more than a century, people have flocked to the San Diego Zoo to discover animals. The Zoo connects people with wildlife to inspire a passion for nature. It is these connections that spark the desire to protect and save species. They provide opportunities for animal behavior and health studies that would be difficult, if not impossible, to conduct in the wild. San Diego Zoo Global field projects take researchers to sites around the world, working with local people, fellow conservation scientists, partner organizations, and government agencies. Employees are extremely passionate and engaged and are proud of the work in conservation, mission and vision, and animals and plants. People apply to work for SDZG because of what they do. And once hired, they stay for a very long time.

The ship houses an extensive collection of aircraft, many of which were built in Southern California. The USS Midway was the United States’ longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century, from 1945 to 1992. Approximately 200,000 sailors served aboard the carrier, known for several naval aviation breakthroughs and several humanitarian missions. It was the only carrier to serve the entire length of the Cold War and is well worth the $20 to check it out in person. Walkable to the hotel. https://www.midway.org/
