There will be a brief presentation about the history of the CEIA Academy as well as its’ relationship with Vail and the history of Vail, CO. You’ll also get introduced to your 2024 CEIA Academy Faculty. 8:30 AM | Welcome, Housekeeping Items & Introductions Basecamp: Setting a Course for Your Climb Facilitators: Peggy Harrier & Tracey Dowling First, we will take a historical perspective of cooperative education and internships, benchmarking key events and contributions. We will provide insight into where we started, what happened and where we are today. Second, we will conduct a networking activity designed to get us connected and open to dialoging for the remainder of our time at the CEIA Academy. | Piney 2 (1st Floor) |

10:00 AM | Basecamp: Setting a Course for Your Climb (continued) Facilitator: Rich Robles While your ascent route will vary from institution to institution, we will go over the common gear necessary for developing a good foundation and basic components of a quality work-integrated learning program(s). The presentation will cover the elements of program structure and its relationship to the overall organization. Information will be shared about generating innovative ideas, understanding finances, and data management that will most effectively promote your programs to your stakeholders. | |

1:00 PM | Calibrating Your Compass: Curriculum Development Facilitator: Cherie Lynch Whether your primary role focuses on teaching work-integrated learning courses or facilitating student and employer connections for work-integrated learning opportunities, this session will go over the foundations of curricular and non-curricular preparations for students engaging in work-integrated learning opportunities. Some shared resources will include sample syllabi, discussions about the pendulum swing between credit-bearing and non-credit/zero-credit courses, and best approaches for anchoring student participants and site supervisors. This session will cover technical climbing in enrolling student participants in paid vs. unpaid experiences, course prerequisites, etc. | |

5:30 PM | Group Dining Excursion (pay your own way) Up The Creek is family owned and has been operating since 1988. They pride themselves in serving fresh ingredients sourced from local and sustainable sources whenever possible. They are located on the banks of Gore Creek with the only creek side patio. Check out their menu online at https://vailupthecreek.com/home We will meet in the lobby and make the ~10 minute walk together. In the event of inclement weather, we will use complementary hotel shuttles. If you have non-Academy registered travel companion(s) that plan to accompany you to the group dinner OR if you will not be attending the group dinner OR you would prefer to drive to the restaurant and will not have a vehicle on property, do email Peggy Harrier before 5/31/24 at Peggy@ceiainc.org to arrange accommodations. | Up The Creek |

8:30 AM | Making the Trek: Employer Relationships & Development Facilitator: Tracey Dowling You cannot reach the peak if you are not prepared and equipped for your first ascent. More importantly, you cannot do it alone. With shared best practices, you will be able to develop a plan to create and implement an employer development and relations approach that will work on your campus for your student stakeholders. Please feel free to bring common employer engagement blowdowns or deadfalls that have stopped or paused progress in engaging with hiring organizations previously. | Piney 2 (1st floor) |
