CEIA Verdict Response

April 21, 2021 6:06 pm Published by 1 Comment

Dear CEIA Colleagues,

Yesterday’s verdict, which found Derek Chauvin guilty of all charges in the murder of George Floyd, symbolizes our first steps towards justice, accountability, and equity. Knowing that this verdict cannot bring back the life that was tragically taken, the devastation experienced by the Floyd Family needs to remain in our minds going forth.

We at CEIA have committed ourselves to supporting those who battle racial injustice that those of color face each day. We will continue to do our part to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion within our organization and community, today and always.

We acknowledge that many of our students, colleagues, and friends are now processing this verdict and what it represents. CEIA reaffirms its support for those standing together to end racism and enact meaningful, large-scale social change. This is only the beginning.

Please continue your good work to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion on your campuses and in your organizations.

Today and always, Black Lives Matter.

In community,
CEIA Board of Directors

Thank you for your solidarity and dedication to diversity and justice. As I continue to struggle with my white privilege i appreciate participating in organizations such as CEIA and the recognition we still have much work to do.
